Cottonwood Residential Partners with Refugee Education Initiative

Cottonwood Residential is partnering with Salt Lake City-based Refugee Education Initiative to help students with a refugee background start and build their careers. Currently, two interns from the organization are working at the corporate office.

“We’re able to help these students gain valuable experience towards productive careers,” noted Susan Hallenberg, Chief Financial Officer. “In turn, they improve our company and culture.”

Bhakti, a native of Nepal, is an intern in the Construction Department. She has been in the United States for six years and is currently pursuing a business degree.

Franck works as an Accounting Department intern. Originally from Congo, he came to the United States in 2013 and is preparing to pursue a Master of Accounting degree.

The Refugee Education Initiative currently serves 162 students from 22 countries, representing 31 spoken languages. For more information on volunteer or sponsorship opportunities, please visit TheRefugeeEducationInitiative.org.
