Cottonwood Residential Employees Kick Off the Holidays Supporting the Utah Food Bank

December 9, 2016 – Salt Lake City – Team members at the corporate headquarters of Cottonwood Residential began the holidays with a food drive to benefit the Utah Food Bank. The national multifamily REIT, which operates in 17 states in 73 locations, rallied its 70+ Utah-based workers over a two-week friendly competition among two coworker groups.

“Each team would watch the other’s collection bin start to fill up and that would create a chain reaction of donations in response,” commented Ryan Fowler, Director of Human Resources.

Susan Hallenberg, Chief Financial Officer, remarked, “Though it was a competition, we all felt like we were making a meaningful effort as a group, one food item at a time.”

As the rally ended, employees pitched in to load and deliver nearly 1,000 pounds of items to the Utah Food Bank, located in Salt Lake City. They were then able to work with staff at the food bank to unload and prepare the items for distribution.

“Last year the Utah Food Bank delivered over 30 million meals through 140 partner agencies in Utah,” mentioned CEO Dan Shaeffer. “We’re excited to support them and their mission.”
